The Aerie flat, nestled inside the cliff face and sheltered from the high altitude's freezing winds, is barren and empty. It is clear from the untouched room and the strange feeling of barrenness that there has been no human activity here for several decades. Only one living being willingly endures the bitter air and the brazen cliffs; a tall, black gryphon with amber eyes. Her name is Volarice, one of the last survivors of the plague that decimated the Aerie in the year 575. She sits before the entrance, a perpetually somber guard, barring the way to those who shouldn't poke and pry.

Catena Island is part of the World of Alskyr and is no way related to any other written works. Alskyr is an originally created world, and is not a derivative of, nor should it be confused with, any published works of science or fantasy fiction.
