Bonding Application
1. You must have a character for a dragon to bond. This character must be located on a web page with a story that in some way depicts his, her, or zir experiences and personality. Most bonders are Alskyrian humans, but any on- or off-world species that is sentient and capable of riding or flying with a dragon is acceptable. Dragons that are not currently bonded are welcome to apply. 2. On the same page or pages on which the dragon images will be displayed, you must have a visible link to Catena Island. Please link to the main Island website instead of the Caer or any internal pages. 3. There must be no stolen content on the page, and the story and images must rate no higher than PG-13. If you are not certain about your page's content, feel free to contact the Caerlady with any questions. 4. The dragon images distributed from Caer Catena are creations of the Caerlady and are not to be edited or redistributed without her express permission. Adding the dragon's name to the image is permissible. 5. The color and rarity of dragon that your character bonds depends on the quality of his/her story. Well-written bonders with long, detailed, and thought-out stories will receive a much rarer dragon than a page with only a few paragraphs. If your page is just statistics or a paragraph or two, or contains grammatical or spelling errors to the point of being illegible, you shouldn't expect a dragon at all. 7. Bonders should be at least fifteen years old (or the equivalent thereof) to ensure they will be physically and mentally prepared for their duties as a dragoner. 8. Dragons at Caer Catena will not always bond their same gender, so if you have a preference to what your bonder gets, please leave a note in the comments field. Dragon-to-dragon pairings will usually be of opposite gender. 9. Your character may not have more than 4 pets - that is, horses, dogs, Caer lizards, et cetera - of any kind. Remember that, if he or she bonds successfully, Fledgling training and his or her duties as a dragoner are a lot of work, and he or she may not have much time for pets. 10. If the clutch size is 10 or greater, you (the author) may send in a maximum of 3 Bonders. If the clutch is 9 or smaller, you may send a maximum of 2 Bonders. This is to be fair to others, and may change according to participation. 11. Dragons will be sent out in three stages - hatching, fledgling, and adult. If you do not have the dragon's picture up on its page within two weeks of receiving each image, he or she will be considered abandoned. Abandoned dragons may survive, in which case they will not be able to bond again, but may stay on at Caer Catena; however, if the dragon's bond with his or her rider was very close, they are not likely to survive being abandoned and will die. If you abandon a dragon once, that is considered a warning; if you abandon a second time, you will be banned from bonding here. 12. "Reserve" or incomplete bonders are not accepted. Please make sure that your character's page and story are complete before applying. 13. Some bonders choose to shorten or change their name if they successfully bond. This is an optional practice, but a field is present in the form if such an honorific is desired. 14. The Caer will accept bonders whether or not there is currently a clutch. If there is no clutch, or if extra bonders have applied, they will be placed on a waiting list and will be eligible for the next clutch. 15. You must join the Catena Council, our mailing list. This is where all clutch updates and important information will be sent to. If you don't join, you won't get a notice that the clutch has hatched and you won't receive the three dragon images as they're sent out. Not having subscribed to the list is no excuse for abandoning your dragon.
