Fleet Formations

Fighting 1: The Wedge

This basic wedge formation allows for great maneuverability and speed. No dragon is closer than one wingspan to any other, and all have the fleet leader in their field of vision. This formation is best suited for fighting Ants, because it can swiftly turn and sweep an area multiple times.

Fighting 2: The Sail

The sail formation is essentially a modified wedge. Less maneuverable and more difficult to maintain, it nevertheless allows one fleet to cover a broader area and is thus well-suited for eliminating rampage plant spores.

Scouting

The scouting formation allows one fleet to break up into smaller groups and search or explore a wide area. It is not designed for fighting, but instead for maneuverability and for maximizing visibility. In addition to scouting, it is suited for search-and-rescue missions and routine patrols.

Traveling

Use of the traveling formation is almost completely restricted to flying long distances during which no hostility is expected. The dragons fly too close together for fighting or tight maneuvering. Those flying in the two straight rows stagger their altitude to minimize air turbulence.
