Crow's Wing Dell, laced with soft wisps of fog, lies cold and empty, the twin hills that stand guard casting shadows into the valley's bowl. The castle, nestled between them, is black and foreboding, its gates forever closed. Shortly after the graduation of Laerdei's first (and final) clutch, a group of villagers rose against the castle, angered by the lack of contact with the rest of Icarus. The Knights tried to reconcile the insurrection, but many were killed by the mobs. Among the dead was High Princess Derakoh. After the death of the High Princess, the people of the castle and villages slowly left, bound for faraway lands. High Prince Kireshan, mourning the loss of his wife, was said to have ordered the Knights to lock him inside the castle. Once inside, he impaled himself upon his wife's sword and, with his last breath, vowed that the spirits of those killed in the Dell would keep man and Drak alike from entering the land wrought with misfortune.
