The World of Toisian: Roleplaying Rules 1. Please keep all posts where they belong. Roleplaying belongs only in the Roleplaying section, character biographies in the Character Bios section, and all other material in the OOC Discussion section. Spam and posts that are placed incorrectly will be moved or deleted. Members who repeatedly spam will be banned. 2. All members are expected to write with proper spelling and grammar. Members are welcome to ask moderators for minor assistance with certain words or grammatical rules, but we will not edit your posts. Posts that contain a notable disregard for spelling and grammar, internet abbreviations or “1337” will be deleted. Members who refuse to improve their post quality will be banned. 3. “Powergaming” (giving a character god-like, super-powerful, or unrealistic abilities), “twinking” (forcing the consequence of a character’s action upon another character - i.e. “Kate shoots Mark in the shoulder” as opposed to “Kate aims at Mark’s shoulder and fires”), or any such strategies are not allowed under all but a spare few circumstances. Members are expected to use good judgment to determine where the line falls. In the same vein, a member whose character is attacked must take realism into consideration when deciding whether or not they are injured, and how seriously. This will be approached on a case-by-case basis. Characters are not allowed to use magic without moderator approval. 4. Do not seriously harm, kill, or violate another member’s character without their OOC consent. Members may be contacted via Private Messaging or in the OOC Discussion forum. This will be approached on a case-by-case basis. 5. Do not write material that would exceed an R-rating. Graphic sex is forbidden, as is foul language in purposeless excess. Material posted for the sole purpose of being offensive will be deleted. Members who repeatedly post offensive material or material which exceeds the rating will be banned. 6. All members are expected to treat each other with respect. OOC grudges must be kept out of any IC interaction. If you have a serious conflict with another player, please do not bring it to the forum unless you feel your character has received unfair bias as a consequence. Conflicts are expected to remain private and should only be brought up to the moderators if no other solution is possible. 7. All players must register an account and post a character description before entering the Roleplaying forum (guest posting is forbidden in the Roleplaying and Character Bios sections). Please be sure that your username is your character’s name or some variation thereof, and if you play more than one character, please make one account for each. Members are expected to be familiar with the World Information and to adhere to the continuity. In-character actions that significantly affect the continuity must be approved by all moderators. 8. All characters must have a biography posted in the Character Bios forum. This must include their name, gender, race, and a basic physical description (everything that other players may notice upon looking at your character, including clothing and weapons). Ideally, it will also provide notes on their personality, history, and anything else you want other players to be aware of. Check existing posts in the Character Bios form for examples. 9. All members must provide a valid e-mail address in their profile that is checked on a regular basis. The e-mail does not have to be visible to all members (in fact, to help prevent spam, we recommend you set it to not be displayed), but in case the forum administrator needs to contact you, you must have a current address attached to your profile. 10. All material (including, but not limited to, text, character concepts, art, and world information) is the intellectual property of and is copyright to its author, and is not to be redistributed in any way, shape, or form without the author’s express permission. Members are also expected not to use copyrighted material in the roleplay. Copyright violations will not be taken lightly under any circumstance. If you feel that a member is breaking one or more of the rules and it has not been addressed by a moderator, please send a Private Message to one or more of the moderators. Do not confront the offender, and do not try to fix the situation on your own. |
