The World of Toisian: Timeline

Previous to the Feudal Era, very little history was recorded and little is known about the events of the world. At the start of the Feudal Era, it was possible to forge iron and steel using a folding technique, providing for the creation of blades that were both sharp and durable. Gunpowder had been discovered, but was only used in fireworks; chemical-powered projectile weapons had not been invented. Printing was being improved, and the price of books and paper was dropping, making them available to the general public. As such, literacy was becoming more widespread. The Drow, or dark elves, have long been expelled from Elvish society. They are believed to have formed undiscovered settlements in the Eastern Mountain Range, cutting off all contact with the elves and humans. Some trade with the elves was established, introducing more exotic foods and products to human society. Currency was established and standardized.

Date Event
circa 130 AFE An ice dragon traveling in human form is attacked in an alley; he recovers, but is unable to return to his true shape. He wanders in human form, under the assumed name "Nielin Gage."
circa 1 FE In human territory, wealthy, powerful families have attracted smaller families as protectorates and servants; the larger families claim leadership of several powerful clans, to which the smaller families lend their services or tithe goods and taxes in exchange for protection and political power. These clans take the name of their head family. They number eight in total: Aizin, Hokusei, Kogoto, Koorogi, Minoru, Sammayaku, Shinwa, and Tsuru. For the next quarter of a century, clan borders are unstable, but eventually settle into defined borders. The following period of time is known as the Feudal Era or Feudal Age.
circa 110 FE During a series of long but low-casualty battles with neighboring clans over territory, Minoru and Aizin gain a reputation as the two strongest warrior clans. Clan borders do not change.

145 FE Trade routes with the Elves are more firmly established. Elvish fruit and produce is generally considered a delicacy among humans, and delicate silver and gold Elvish knotwork and gem settings are prized as expensive jewelry.
circa 180 FE Dragons are reportedly sighted in the Eastern mountains. Gage goes out to find out if it’s true, but is unable to locate any definitive signs of his kin. The sighting is soon refuted.
208 FE War breaks out between the Elves and Koorogi clan, over possession of desert areas. Tsuru and Aizin clans come to Koorogi's aid; many Elvish bloodlines are wiped out. Minoru remains intact, governed by a council made up of the heads of the most prominent families. Tsuru survived more or less intact, and Koorogi, though it suffered significant casualties, maintains its former way of life.
